If you weren’t there, you missed the event of the year. This was the show of all shows, with the crowd of all crowds. The line-up included The Future Kings Of Nowhere, a 6 piece accoustic punk band (punk? I guess that would fit them) who rocked us with their clever lyrics and playfulness on stage. They completely opened the show with a bang and got the crowd cranked. Next up: Red Collar, fantastic puck band thats so filled with energy they make the place explode. Seriously, they could have overthrown a governement with that energy. Between the great music, stage dives, Red Collar definitely upped the energy level and got the crowd jumping. Third on the bill was the lush sounds of I Was Totally Destroying It, filling the room with their gorgeous rock.

The main event, HNMTF came on to a crowd ready to tear the world apart with their energy and excitement. The Duke Coffeehouse was being crushed by the energy and sheer mass of people, all jumping and singing along to every song. I feared the place might collapse it was so intense. HNMTF were pure and utter perfection. Amazing.

The sound was perfect the whole night, and the set up was short (thank you all for that) so little energy was lost between sets, allowing for a full buildup. It’s amazing that this 3 piece band can have such a full sound without a lot of effects. They are a well oiled machine creating a big intelligent sound while knowing how to have fun with their own brand of quirk. The best show of the year!

Go buy their music. Go see them live.
